gqjai Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 hi - i received the following message below from PL after i submitted my first bid for 148. Does this mean the lowest they'll sell the room is for that price? :) We Have A Great Deal For You!We searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we can't accept your offer of $148 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number ###-###-###-##. During our search we found a hotel room available for $202 per room, per night. If you are willing to accept this new price, you can get your hotel room right now.Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested.Act fast - Hotel inventory is constantly changing and these rooms are subject to availability. To accept this new price just review your offer details and follow the steps below.
thereuare Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Yes, 99% of the time you will be successful if you raise your bid to the amount they're asking. However, if you use re-bid zones (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) you can often undercut their counter-offer in order to save a bit more. See this thread: Priceline Counter-Offer for more details.Feel free to ask questions regarding either of the above, and if you'd like a more specific bidding strategy, let us know if you understand re-bidding, and your maximum bid (if you're not willing to go as high as $202), and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. gqjai Posted March 26, 2008 Author Report Posted March 26, 2008 Thanks for your response...i tried the re-bid but was only able to do it twice. Below is what I did:First re-bid @ 150 south stripSecond re-bid @ 155 las vegas airportStill no luck....i'll try again tomorrow....i think $175 will be my highest bid or i'll drop down to a 4* hotel starting $75
thereuare Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 At the 5* level you have a LOT more re-bid zones than just the Airport... is there a reason you're only using that one?Are you familiar with Priceline Re-Bidding Explained? gqjai Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 Palazzo Select 5* North stripBid $171, rejected add re-bid zone...Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South (there was a message to add $25 to get the room, but i ignore it) :) Bid $175, rejected add re-bid zone...Las Vegas AirportBid $179, rejected add re-bid zone...Convention Center - UNLV AreaBid $180, rejected add re-bid zone...West of StripBid $185 WININNG BID re-bid zone...Summerlin - NW Las VegasYour Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $185.00 Subtotal: $555.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $70.33 Total Charges*: $625.33
Diamond Dog Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 I think you may have got a bit lucky there - I think Summerlin isn't a rebid zone for 5*, because it has a resort. You could have ended up there, I think?Anyway - nice win. We're going in July!
thereuare Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 Congratulations on your win!Glad to see you were successful and that we were able to help. The Palazzo is a very nice property and this is a great deal.Regarding the re-bidding, things can change at anytime, but it's currently "safe" to use resort zones as re-bid areas when you're bidding on 5* properties. You can see the hierarch in this old post regarding Priceline Star Ratings. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Have a great trip and have fun in Vegas. Diamond Dog Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 My bad - it's 4* you need to be careful of, because Resorts can be used to fill them.
