Im looking for bidding stratagies for manhattan. I have tried priceline zones : soho, midtown east/west times square, upper midtown 4* upto 190 with no luck. Im willing to go with a 3* but prefer 4* in any of these zones in the order i listed them. Any suggestions? Is there a reason to why its hard to win that weekend? On hotwire there is a 4* in soho for 230. Im thinking of biting. Thanks for all your help in the past and present.

The check-in/check-out dates you've put in your topic title are the same... what are the actual dates of your stay and we'll try to have a look at the above.

How about the Gild Hall which is available for $169/nite thru Quickbook.

This hotel is going thru a 'soft opening' so still some services not available (restaurant, room service, etc... i also hear the lobby may not be complete), but even with the soft opening, the reviews have been great.

If you go for the above please use our Quikbook link to begin our purchase. (it's also cancellable)

Will this work for your needs?

Thats my backup hotel which is a good deal but kinda far from everything and we would have to cab it at night. That being said i know soho is far too but she likes walking about soho. I would prefer to be closer to the action.

This hotel is located in the Downtown zone which you have already bid, why don't you let us know exactly what it is that you're looking for from this stay so we can try to find something which will work well for your needs.

Given the prices you've already been rejected with i thought the above would be a perfect fit... do you usually go to/from the hotel mutliple times on a one nite stay?

Usually we do come and go a fair bit. I thought the gild was in the financial district which is further south of soho. I guess we wanted to stay north of the financial district and stay in a place with more available services..room service etc. I didnt want to spend over 250 including tax on a better location and higher * hotel. If it can not be done then i will factor the money i save staying at the gild into money spent on cabs.

thank you

all the 4* in the downtown area are in soho from what i can see, I didnt not want to bid on a 3* in downtown. All the other zones are ok for 3*. Sorry for not making that clearer

I guess i shouldnt bid on soho. I was looking at your hotel list and the 4* hotels are in soho. I just dont want to risk it and you know best. Can i get help finding a hotel in the other zones i mentioned. Feel free to add midtown south if its a good location.

They're really not... the Millenium Hilton is the most frequently awarded hotel at the 4* level in this zone and it is directly across from the WTC site, putting it clearly in the Financial District.

Given the $169/nite rate at Quikbook's Gild Hall (if this is your 'back-up') how high are you willing to bid for a 4* in one of the midtown zones?

I understand the concept of rebidding but how can you be sure the zones you picked are rebid zones. I looked at your list of hotels for priceline and it looks like upper midtown, brooklin, and long island are rebid zones. There is a disclaimer in your hotel lists post that they arent always upto date and that rebid zones change all the time. Is there a better way to figure out what the rebid zones are?

Posted

I understand the concept, I guess the thing im trying to figure out is where to get a complete hotel list for priceline or where I can get information to complile my own list. You state not to use the list you complied as hotels change all the time. I checked priceline.com retail and all the hotels are not listed for each zone. For example the hilton grand in the financial district is not sited on the retail hotel page. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks once again for all your help

From the first post at re-bid:

The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. (NOTE: for most users Priceline has updated their interface making the above process easier... simply check a zone and note the highest star rating available within each zone, UNcheck that zone and checkmark the next zone, repeating the process)

Let us know how you make out and we'll confirm your re-bid zones for you... or break it down further.
