Priceline Hotel: September in Quebec

My wife and I are going to Quebec for a week in September and will need hotels in Montreal and Quebec City. Should we be making our bids and reservations now, or are prices likely to drop the closer we get to September?

Any advice is appreciated. Is there a specific hotel offered on PL or HW that we should try to hone in on. The Sofitel looks very nice, but it might not be much of a bargain.

When to big is one of the most common questions on the board and you will likely get different opinions from different poeple. My own take is bid as soon as you know your plans are firm... but also don't over-bid with plenty of time on your hands. The exception to this rule is if there is a holiday or special event in town (covention, show, festival, etc) that will create strong demand. Others more familiar than with the area than i am will be able to advise on specific areas, zones, and hotels, but a good place to start browsing is in our HOTEL REVIEW section (categorized by location so easy to scan thru hotels that are there). HOWEVER, don't fall in love with any particular hotel (unless you plan on booking direct) as nothing is guaranteed with Priceline or Hotwire.

In order to keep the forum orderly please use this thread for Montreal and start a new thread for Quebec City. This will enable us to properly change the titles of each thread to reprsent the hotel you eventually 'win'. If you'd like help with specific bidding strategies or hotel idenfications we'll also need the date(s) of your stay.
