Priceline Hotel: New York City Help May 28-May 31

New to bidding and looking for some bidding strategy for NYC May 28- May 31 and May 28-June 2 (2 rooms)

Would prefer to stay in Mid Town East and am happy to go upto US$260 or therabouts.

Please help.

Before suggesting a bidding strategy, a few comments/questions...

Is MTE the only zone you're willing to stay in? (do you have some reason/plans for which you need to be in this specific zone) All the midtown zones typically work well for the average tourist/visitor. NYC is a very compact city, and with mass transit easily accessible and very affordable (although getting a bit more expensive with recent fare hikes), we usually recommend that users inlcude all the zone(s) they're willing to accept in order to get the best deal.

Of course you know your plans/needs better than we do, but by adding more zones you increase the number of bidding opportunties you have, as well as increase the number of hotels which could possibly accept your bid, both of which can contribute to you getting the best deal.

Let us know your thoughts and/or any questions you have we'll advise accordingly.

Strong Preference for MTE but not a dealbreaker to try other zones as well. What is your view about availability and price given past trends?

Generally speaking, NYC is very expensive in the Spring, and while i do think you have a chance at a 4* hotel in the MTE up to $260/nite... i also think that most (not ncessarily all) of the users on the board would prefer the least expensive 4* hotel in Manhattan rather than pay more to be in the MTE zone.

Again, it depends upon your needs for this stay.

Are you fairly familiar with NYC? Can i ask what it is about this zone that makes you want to target it (and willing to pay more for it)

I agree, can you guide me from here on...it's just that I don't want the W! Rooms are so small even by NYC standards. All the 4stars in MTE seem really quality ones that I'd want to stay in. So it's more the hotels than the area. But if you think I'd need to be more flexible happy to be. Please suggest the way forward

All the hotels except the W... and with PRICELINE you won't be able to enusre that you will avoid that property. Are there 'known' 4* hotels in each of the other zones (MTW, Times Square, UM-CPS, MTS) that you would want to avoid which prevents you from bidding those areas?

Not really, I'm happy to start bidding. if I get a good price. I'll deal with any 4* in Midtown, times square, etc.

At the 4* level you have four re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Times Square...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...
