jlupton31 Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Hi,This is my first time using priceline and was referred to this site first for some tips.Looking to travel to Cozumel, Mexico, April 26 - April 29 and stay at the Aura Cozumel Resort Wyndham Grand Bay, a 4 star resort. This is the only 4 star resort listed on priceline so I am assuming this would be the 4 star resort I would receive for my bid?The quoted rate on priceline is $380. This is a newer hotel and I saw some postings on tripadvisor that stated people were being upgraded to this resort for free from the older Wyndahm resort.Could I bid $100/night? I also want to make sure I receive the all inclusive plan too.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I noticed teh U of M logo..my husband is an Alumni! Thanks for all your help!
thereuare Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! This is the only 4 star resort listed on priceline so I am assuming this would be the 4 star resort I would receive for my bid? This isn't correct... see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ regarding using the 'retail' product to determine 'name yoru own price' availability. If you're looking for a specific hotel, HOTWIRE may be a better option as you can often figure out (or take a very educated guess) as to the property being offered based upon the description and amenities associated with it.As well, you can't bid on an "all inclusive" property with PRICELINE (if you did receive the Aura Wyndham Grand Bay not sure if you could upgrade to the all-inclusive plan for an additional fee at check-in)HOTWIRE does offer all-inclusive properties thru their opaque service, and may be a better option if you're trying to target a specific hotel, as you can often take an educated guess (sometimes a very educated guess) as to what the property is before your purchase based upon the amenities and description given.Have you searched HOTWIRE to see if any all-inclusive properties are offered within your travel dates and budget?Feel free to ask any questions regarding the above and/or how you'd like to proceed... we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jlupton31 Posted March 26, 2008 Author Report Posted March 26, 2008 thanks for your help. there is an all inclusive resorts on hotwire that is a 4 star resort, but in the amenities section there is a children's activity icon and I know Aura is an all adult hotel. and I don't want to pay the $286 per night rate listed on hotwire. that is why I wanted to go with priceline.so even on priceline's price given section where they do state the aura is at the all inclusive rate doesn't mean that it is available on the their name your price site with all the same amenities?i guess i can take a chance with priceline and pay the extra all inclusive fee if it isn't included.
