saminks Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Just got back from a three night stay at the Hyatt Lodge - I made my bid through the Priceline name-your-price link. Started at $40/night for 3 nights and was aiming for something near Midway and the Hyatt took it! We had never heard of the place! After reading the earlier reviews I went to the Hyatt Lodge website and downloaded their map and directions - these were very help and we had no problem finding the place.Staff are extremely helpful. Beautiful grounds - would prefer to come back when the weather is nicer. Not a busy place, you feel like you've nearlly alone. We ate at the Water's Edge for breakfast, it seemed a bit steep $10.00 for the breakfast plate - no drink included. BUT the quality of the meat and the size of the serving was more than expected. The plate included asparagus and a grilled tomato with grilled baby potatoes and onions and 2 slices of toast with eggs of your choice. Plus, they serve you a complimentary taste serviing of a strawberry smoothie. This was more of a brunch than breakfast. We drove to the transit station at Midway and parked 12 hrs. for $2 and rode the Orange Line into the loop. Love the CTA pass for visitors. Hyatt provides excellent airport direction cards to the airport. Not much close by for retail or eating - I would check out the Hinsdale area a bit more for moderate choices. We actually stopped at a Whole Foods grocery one night and picked up some items to do our own "room service" and watched movies one snowy night. The room was spacious, the beds were double-sized but very comfortable. Our one sticking point was that the room temp was stuck on warm. We could turn it off or on - no in between. We asked two nights in a row about having someone check on this, but they never indicated that they had. Ultimately, they comp'ed us for 2 nights in the future. This is definitely a hotel mostly catering to the surrounding corporate environment, but they are willing or need to bring in the extra business. This place worked well for us - and I would come back.
