elb45 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I may be visiting NY during in July(3-7). I have to be there for the Dance Education America National competition which is at the Grand Hyatt in Midtown Manhatttan. Needless to say, I cannot afford to stay there, but am considering staying in Jersey (Secaucus) during that time. I have booked through Hotwire several times before and the last time I booked through Hotwire, it put me at the LaQuinta Inn in Carlton, NJ, however the area in Hotwire (before I purchased) said secaucus but unfortunately Carlton, NJ was farther away from the city than I wanted.I noticed that the Hyatt bought and remodeled the Amerisuites. There is one in Secaucus (Meadowlands) where I'd like to be. The address is 575 Park Plaza Dr. I would like this area because it is 6 miles from the Grand Hyatt and a shuttle is available right outside the hotel (based on reviews I read in TripAdvisor). Can you tell me, if this hotel is available through hotwire? When I look at the Hilton Place directly the room is 119 for Thrus - Sat, but then jumps to 225 on Sunday. I'd like to have something for under 100 a night, but do not want to be far out in Jersey. If the Hilton Place is not an option, are there other hotels in that area (through hotwire or priceline) that are just as nice for under 100?Thanks in Advance.
elb45 Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 In my previous post, I meant to say Clifton, NJ instead of Carlton, NJ. Sorry for the mistake.
thereuare Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! All hotels reported to the board are would be found in the corresponding Priceline Hotel List and Hotwire Hotel List.As you can tell from the lists, there are a LOT of hotels in the area, and fortunately most of them offer good access to mass transit and an easy commute into NYC. Unfortunately with the opaque providers you can't choose which hotel you will get, so PRICELINE may not be a good option since it may be further out than you would like OR not have easy access to mass transit. With HOTWIRE you can often figure out the hotel beforehand based upon the amenities and star rating, but still can't be 100% certain, so there is some degree of risk involved which you would have to accept in order to receive the deep discounts which PRICELINE and HOTWIRE provide. Since you can't choose the hotel you want within the zone, start by doing a HOTWIRE search for your dates and see if there are any hotels within the area within your budget and at or above your minimum star rating; if so, let us kow the star rating, price and amenities that HOTWIRE associates with the property offered and we'll try to ID it.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
