loves2sing Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I have read many posts on here and I see that many people are getting 4* hotels near London Heathrow for $70 or $80 but I have been bidding for the past few days and I can't even get one for $90. The lowest that comes up on Hotwire (through the link here) is $127 for a 3*. As suggested on here I've tried by starting with just Heathrow and then adding Luton but I still get rejected. I am trying for one night, June 17th. I haven't used Priceline for a number of years because I usually care specifically where I stay but I just have a layover at Heathrow for one night and thought I'd try Priceline. Am I doing something wrong? :)
thereuare Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are date specific....I did a quick search of the board and found the last two reported wins in this area for which the stay did not occur yet:Heathrow Marriott ($68 ... 6/1/08-6/2/08)Heathrow Crowne Plaza ($76 ... 8/15/08-8/16/08)Taking it a step further, rates are as follows:Marriott:6/17 <sold-out>6/1 115 GBP8/15 69 GBPCrowne Plaza6/17 144 GBP6/1 97 GBP8/15 60 GBPSo as you can see rates for your dates are more expensive, much more expensive OR sold-out, then when the other users won thier bids. If rates remain the same, you'll likely need to bid more than the amounts of the previously accepted bids, since rates are so much higher for your dates than for the dates when others have won at lower levels.Thank you for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how we can be of further help. thereuare Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I only looked at those two hotels above... what is the best rate you're able to find for a 4* hotel for your nite?It doesn't even have to be a 4* property (unless you decide it needs to be)... if you're not successful with the opaque providers, where will you stay and how much will it cost... you can then determine a maximum bid based upon your "next best deal".
