Jamie Hamilton Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Hi,I am travelling to New York with a friend and we're looking to stay in a 4 star hotel near Union Square. Can i have some help with the way to get the best price and what the hotel will be like. We need twin beds for 4 nights from 25th April.ThanksJamie
mrxow Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 If you must have two beds, you can't use Priceline. You can look at what HOTWIRE has to offer for your dates. You can expect them to be nice hotels, no need to worry. I don't use Hotwire much, so I am not sure, but you might need to designate more than two people in the room to make sure that you get two beds. There are listings for New York hotwire hotels on this site. You can compare the amenities listed on HOTWIRE to the amenities in the New York Hotwire hotel list. You might be able to figure out which hotel it is and where it is that way. Or you can ask for help if you are unsure. The people who run the board might give you some direct booking options you might like, too. In any event, use the links to the site you want to use so that you support the board.
thereuare Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! As mrxow points out, the issue is that you can't guarantee two beds with PRICELINE. If two beds is a must, then you can try searching HOTWIRE for triple occupancy, which will guarnatee separate sleeping accomodation for each of you, but in some <rare> instances this could be the 2nd bed is a rollaway or a pullout couch. However, in NYC, searching for triple occupancy usually increases the price as well as limits your options (since many rooms are not designed to accomodate three people). As well, how flexible are you on the area? Union Square is in the MTS zone, and 4* hotels in this zone are usually EXPENSIVE, and you could probably do significantly better if you include the other midtown zones.Based upon the above, let us know your thoughts, as well as your expected budget per nite, and we'll try to evaluate some of your options. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
