Welcome to BetterBidding!

Sorry to hear you're disapointed with your results, but perhaps if you give us a bit more detail we can comment on your results?

What star rating did you bid? What zone did you bid? What was the price? What are the dates?

What were you expecting to receive? What about the property is disappointing.

I started bidding on 4 star hotels in the loop area. I started at 50 dollars. Then I kept increasing my bid, and adding other locations nearby. One was Greater Chicago, the other I forgot but it was very close to the loop. Then Priceline yelled at me when I was rejected again and told me to add more areas or change my star rating. So I added 3 star hotels.

Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza 3-star

North Michigan Ave - River North Area

350 West Mart Center Drive

Chicago, Illinois 60654

312-836-5000

Its not near anything of importance and the rooms look tacky. I took a chance and I guess this will have to do. Oh yeah, I bid 60 dollars. I didn't play PRICELINE well and got what I deserved. I will be staying there for one night this coming Thursday, March 20.

Luckily I got a good deal in Boston in two weeks. 100 dollars for the Westin Waterfront.

Bye for now!

PS I don't know Chicago well at all. I've only been there twice each time for only a few hours. One time I barely left Union Station because I got scared. I've lived in the Chicago area for 8 months and this will be my first overnight in Chicago. I have to go to a party downtown early evening, but the rest of the time I'm free to do whatever I want. Any suggestions? I'll be alone until 5pm when my boyfriend gets out of work.

Thank you! I love this website!

This doesn't sound too bad... it may not be the most luxurious hotel in Chicago, but the reviews are decent with most saying the location is good and a good choice if you can get a goo rate. Your win is about 40% off of the hotels own rate so i would certainly consider that a 'good' deal.

If you're looking for things to do, see our sister site: Things To Do 411.com which currently has a 5% off promotion going on.

Hope your stay is better than you expect.

Can you please add your win to the board. Thanks.

Thank you for your help. I will be posting my other "wins" later this week. I have about 7 from the last week or so of bidding.

After reading the reviews of this particular Holiday Inn, it sounds like booking through PRICELINE automatically assigns you to lousy service and a poor room (i.e. smoking, interior view, non-river view). I'm scared about this.

Please people, do you have any suggestions as to how to politely and effectively ask for a nice (preferably king size bed room, non smoking, good view)?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers,

Miss Poofy

You can call the hotel now and ask for your preerences to be noted.

At check-in, just ask politely (just as if you were any other guest) and if you have a tangible problem discuss it with the hotel (just as if you were any other guest).
