Amy72 Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Hi, I am new to this website and have been reading about how to use priceline to get the best price. I followed another poster's pattern where they have the Venetian for $165 (same exact dates). However, I went up to $170 and did not even get a counter offer. I bid this late last night (Sunday). Any ideas or suggestions?? I made 6 bids last night so I do not think I can again till late tonight. Would it be better to bid during the work day? Should I wait until closer to our stay? Right now we can stay at Caeser's for $215, but I would prefer a better price for a comparable hotel. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Amy
thereuare Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Given that the other winning bid you reference was made only 3 days ago, i would simply try again tonite, then re-access...Best case scenario is that the hotel only loaded "x" number of rooms in at that rate and will replenish them in the near future. Worst case scenario is that rates have gone up in the last few days (rates in Vegas change more quickly than just about any other market) and they are no longer offering rates as that price anymore. Is the North Strip the only zone you're willing to accept? If you'd like to bid higher we can suggest a bidding strategy that goes as high as you'd like since you have many re-bid zones when bidding 5* in Las Veags. If so, let us know your maximum bid and if you also wanted to include the Strip South zone as well. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Amy72 Posted March 17, 2008 Author Report Posted March 17, 2008 I will try again tonight (and will continue to use the links provided here!). I just want to end up somewhere on the strip in a nice hotel. Anything better than $215 at Ceasars is great! I've never been to Las Vegas and it is hard to compile all of the information about which hotel is better, etc. so decided to stick with 5* and hopefully get a great hotel! I see some other people are avoiding the South Strip, but I am open to suggestions. Thanks, Amy
thereuare Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 We all have our biases, but since you've never been to Vegas i would stick with 5* North Strip for the right now and we'll re-access after your next round of bidding. Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
