szh Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Hi everyone,I need two rooms from Friday March 21 to Monday March 24 in Toronto (Markham). I'd really like rooms with kitchenettes as we have our parents and baby with us, so ideally we'd like to stay at the Residence Inn, but Staybridge Suites would do as well. The problem is that the Courtyard is also 2.5. We've stayed at Courtyard twice and would like a change. Anyone have any tips on how we could get the Residence Inn (or Staybridge) while avoiding the Courtyard? Any help woud be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. :)
thereuare Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! When trying to target, or avoid, a specific hotel HOTWIRE is often a better option since you can take an edcuated guess as to the hotel being offered before you make your purchase. If you searh HOTWIRE for the number of rooms and the occupancy you're seeking, do you see any hotels offered with a Kitchenette icon? thereuare Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Then you basically have to decide if a Kitchenette is a want and you can try to bid on PRICELINE or if a kitchenette is a need at which point you may have to book direct (please use the lnks in our support page) or thru some other non-opaque source.Let us know what you decide and whatever you end up doing for this stay OR if we can be of further help. szh Posted March 13, 2008 Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 The kitchenette is a want since we don't think it's worth the premium price we'd have to pay if we book direct. I think we'll try Priceline (once we can get a reliable weather forecast....don't want a snowstorm to ruin things) and give it a shot. Since Staybridge Suites is 2* and Residence Inn/Courtyard are 2.5*, what am I better off starting with?If I put in a low bid and choose 2*, would that give me a better chance of getting Staybridge, as opposed to starting off with 2.5*? Because if I bid for a 2.5*, there's a 50/50 chance (apparent chance for me anyway) that I'll get Courtyard.
thereuare Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 The star rating you select is the minimum you are willing to accept... so if you bid 2* there is a chance that you could be upgraded to a 2.5* (or higher) hotel, if you bid 2.5* you could be upgraded to a 3* property (or higher)Once you're plans are firm and you're ready to bid let us know and we'll have a look at current prices and suggest a strategy at that time. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
