thereuare Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Best guess is that this is the Summerfield Suits upgraded to a 3.5* property. You can't make the conclusion that rates will go down as you get closer to the stay. Rates are date specific, so the above may stay may be during a busy nite (or during high season) while the lower rates may have been during low occupancy (or low season). However, rates for this property directly thru their website are $159/nite ($169/nite cancellable) so it would appear that the above is not a very good deal. If this is the hotel you want i would book the cancellable rate and continue to monitor HOTWIRE as you get closer to your check-in, but no assurance that this hotel will still be offered then or if rates will drop at all.Do you need a condo for this stay? Are you willing to spend $150/nite for a hotel in this zone? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. dlam2 Posted March 9, 2008 Author Report Posted March 9, 2008 Thanks thereuare for your prompt reply. We don't need a condo but we are looking for a 2-night pre-cruise hotel for a family of four (2 adults, 1 fourteen and 1 twelve years old). We wish to get a 3* plus hotel around the airport area, as we are not going to rent any car and will have to reply on their shuttle to the hotel. We will also do some shopping at the Dolphin Mall on the second day.The 3.5* condo definitely give us more space plus they offer the complimentary breakfast, but as you said that's not a very good deal.Hotwire also offered a 3* with amenities as below and can you help me to identify which hotel is that?Airport shuttleFitness CenterRestaurantLaundry FacilitiesGolf NearbyPoolsBusiness CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessListed price is $109.00 per night, Retail: $129.00, 16% saving, save $20.00.Will Hotwire offer more than 1 hotel in each star rating, or they will only show one at a time? We are from Canada and it'll be our first time to visit Miami. If we only want to do some shopping, should we consider other areas as well?Your opinions are highly appreciated! Thanks again!
thereuare Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 HOTWIRE will only show one hotel (the least expensive) at each star level within each zone.If this is your first time to the area i would sooner recommend staying near one of the beaches (Miami Beach or South Beach) or Downtown is closer to the pier and has Bayside Market Place nearby for dinner, restaurants, a little shopping etc. While the Beach zones may be a little more expensive than the Beach areas, it's really just a little more in terms of your overall vacation. Of course if this stretches your budget so much that you won't have the budget to do other things on the rest of your vacation, then it's not worth it, but you don't want to travel all that way to Miami to see the inside of a mall. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
