Lissete Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 First of all, I am totally new to these boards so please bear with me. I am not new to PL but am not familiar at all with Boston. I have bid up to $135 for a 4* Copley and Quincy and up to $110 3* Copley. Hotels all show availability albeit at $$$$. I see that folks have gotten 4* for about $111 way in advance and rack rates for those dates are comprable to what I am seeing for my dates. We need a 4/3* Copley area or Quincy Market area. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Do they allow sleeping in the streets of Boston??? :) TIA, Lissete

Lissete Posted March 12, 2008 Author Report Posted March 12, 2008 Yes, I have considered splitting up my bid. I will probably try that towards the end of this month. The best rate that I have found is for the Marriott Copley for $249 for the 1st 2 days/$299 for the last 2 days.I was looking to get the great deals that others have been getting at around $111 but so far I have bid up to $135 4* with no luck. I think that I would like to stay below that.
thereuare Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 I think this is the Priceline Boston Win at $111 you are refering to.Rates for that stay are $249/nite throughout the entire stay... rates for your last two nites are $50 more per nite, indicating stronger demand for those nites (and therefore higher prices). It's not guaranteed that you'll be able to replicate the other user's win for the first two nites of your own stay, but given the price similarities, if you don't want to bid higher i would consider splitting the bid and trying for those two nites at around the same price... then bidding the other two nites separately. You could wait until closer to your stay to do this, but while you wait for rates for the last two nites to go down, there is a chance that rates for the first two nites go up and a bid which may be accepted today may not be accepted later on (of course, rates could go down in your favor as well)If you're have or are able to find an acceptable back-up at a reasonable price then i would consider waiting, but it sounds as if you're finding very high prices for your dates, and if you don't have a back-up i'd consider splitting the bid. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated as to your progress or if we can be of further help. Lissete Posted March 20, 2008 Author Report Posted March 20, 2008 Just a quick follow-up. After bidding daily with no luck, I chickened out and booked a self catering apt. for a great rate. I have a feeling that if I would have held off, I may have had more luck closer to my date. But I really did not want to risk being stuck with a 300+ a night rate if I didn't luck out on PRICELINE. All bids were initiated using the link here and I will continue using it in the future. Thanks for your help.
