Thought I'd share with all how I'm doing trying to get 4* in Vancouver (Downtown only) for our pre-cruise trip. We're looking at 3 nights, 9/19-9/22/08.

Most of the 4*'s are going for around $250 per night on the Internet. I have plenty of time, so I've started out low; hoping to catch one at a good price. It's going to be tough, because it is the end of cruise season and it's on a weekend!

3/3 bid $110 rejected

3/4 bid $115 "

3/5 bid $125 "

I'm going out of town until Sunday, so no bidding until then.

After a week of trying, I was able to get the Pacific Palisades in Vancouver for the weekend of 9/19-9/22/08 for $173 a day. The listed rate on their site was $252.94.

Here's what happened:

3/3 bid $110...not accepted (I only bid one area/price a day because I had plenty of time)

3/4 " $115... " "

3/5 " $125 " "

3/7 " $130 " "

3/10 $140 " "

3/11 bid $148...not accepted, but asked me to raise my bid $25. I did and below are the results:

room -$534.00 (173 per day)

taxes -$92.82
