thepalmers2006 Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Hi. I really want to take my 5 year old to the Easter Egg roll at the White House this year. We live in Southern Virginia (3 hour drive) and would have to be in DC at 730am to get the tickets for the event. I don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel and I'd like to be close to the city and not far out. We would be arriving Saturday morning and leave Monday after the event is over. Any suggestions? I'd like to bid for a price on PRICELINE--they don't charge your credit card unless they find a hotel that will accept your EXACT offer, right? Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! You are correct that PRICELINE will not charge your credit card unless they find a hotel to accept your bid in the zone(s) you select and at the minimum star rating you select (NOTE: if you bid for a 2.5* hotel PRICELINE could upgrade you to a higher rated hotel, i add this simply because you wrote "EXACT offer" above)If you'd like help with a bidding strategy, please let us know which zones (by PRICELINE name) you're willing to accept, your minimum star rating, and your maximum bid... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Yes, I would like to know what's the best way to bid so I can get the lowest price. When "playing" around with the price and star rating I noticed a red message below the price that would tell you if there was a small chance or no chance to get that price...here's what I'm looking for.A 2.5*+ hotel in these areas around DC: Convention Ctr - Capitol Hill AreaDupont Circle - Woodley ParkGeorgetown - Foggy BottomWhite House - DowntownMy maximum bid is (and probably ridiculous): $45.00Reason being, we're not looking to stay in a Hilton or Regis...but, we don't want to stay in a hotel that rents to roaches too........LOL.A decent Motel 6/8 or Travelodge or something like that is fine since we're only going to sleep there, we don't plan on "hanging out" in the hotel Saturday and Sunday---just to sleep. Thanks for any help you have!
