Jenga Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 (I used the BB PRICELINE link)Well of course now I'm kicking myself and wondering if I should have waited a day and tried to get this for $100 or lessBid $95, 2.5* Downtown only; rejectedBid $100, 2.5* Downtown + Midtown East; rejectedBid $110, added 2*, same nabes: accepted! And, yes, I see the error of my ways here. I should have added nabes and then added 2* without raising my price. I'm tired tonight and didn't want to go 15 rounds :) But I've heard nice things about the hotel -- I was target bidding with fingers crossed for Gild Hall or the MTE Marriott Courtyard, either of which would be convenient for different reasons, despite being in completely different parts of the city -- and I'm happy to be below $120, which was my goal for the weekend. On to figure out what the heck I'm doing 3/18-3/21.
thereuare Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Congratulations on your win!I too have heard very good things about this property, and i'm surprised to see only a 2* rating. As the hotel is fairly new, it may be perhaps that all services at the hotel are not open (ie- restaurant, room service, etc) and therefore doesn't currently meet the star rating requirements for a higher rating. Please report back upon your return and let us know your thoughts by posting in the Hotel Reviews section of the board. Thanks for helping us add this property to the Priceline Hotel List and for using our PRICELINE link to begin your biddng.Enjoy your stay. Jenga Posted March 7, 2008 Author Report Posted March 7, 2008 Thank you! I'll definitely post a review and some pix. And, yes, recent TripAdvisor reviews note the public areas are still under construction and restaurant currently closed, but with positive comments on the rooms and service, BTW, I just looked on Quickbook (again by a link on BB, although I'm not sure if it rebates you) and found Gild Hall listed for these dates at $109 but crossed out with a special, "Book now" rate for just $99/night for the weekend. That would have been a very good deal!I can't believe I'm obsessing about $22, but there you go.
