funkadelicflyer Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Looking for a 3 or 4* for Friday March 14 or Saturday March 15. MTW would be ideal but i'd go for the zones around there as well. Willing to bid up to around $130. Any suggestions would be a great help - i'm an experienced bidder in Boston but this is my first NYC priceline experience. Thanks!

funkadelicflyer Posted March 7, 2008 Author Report Posted March 7, 2008 least expensive 3* or better. PRICELINE Zones: MTS, MTW, MTE, TS, CPSThanks!
thereuare Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Before bidding i'll mention that Gild Hall is currently going thru a 'soft opening' so some services (restaurant, room service, etc) are not offered, and as a result, they're offering some great deals for weekend dates thru Quickbook. It's Downtown, but the reviews of the rooms have been very good, and for just $99/nite, which you may also want to consider. If you go this route please use our Quickbook link to begin your purchase. If you'd like to bid on PRICELINE for this stay, at the 3* level you have three re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Times Square and MTS...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* MTE and MTW and Times Square...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Times Square and UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* MTE and MTW and Times Square and UM/CPS and MTSBid $130.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your bidding.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. funkadelicflyer Posted March 10, 2008 Author Report Posted March 10, 2008 just had my traveling companion try. followed a similar strategy up to $175. no luck. it looks like there has been success with 3/13 in 3* and 4* zones for prices around $150. should i be going much higher in price? any suggestions on a bid max based on current rack rates? Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 What is the best deal you're able to find thru conventional means? (use our BetterChecker to assist in your search).I've found Quikbook has the Beekman Tower for $234/nite and HOTWIRE has a few assorted 3*-4* hotels for similar amounts. If you're looking for a "deal" i would consider staying in Jersey City. What appears to be the Hyatt on the Hudson is available for $135/nite thru HOTWIRE. There is a PATH train litteraly 50 feet from the hotel which will have you in Downtown Manhattan in less than 10 minutes (obviously you'd then have to take the subway to midtown if that's where you ultimately wanted to end up... or you could take the PATH from the Hyatt to midtown but it would require a connection). The Hyatt is a great hotel built on a pier and the rooms have skyline or downtown NYC views. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links, or th equickbook link above if you go that route, to begin your travel purchases.Thoughts? funkadelicflyer Posted March 12, 2008 Author Report Posted March 12, 2008 here's the final verdict: split the nights because rates were very high for wednesday3/12: $202 4*MTW 6 Columbus Circle (this is more than the $179 rack rate for 1 double bed...boo) This hotel is not listed on the current Priceline hotels list. 3/13: $185 4* MTE Grant HyattShould be nice to see different parts of the city, although a tad inconvenient to move around. Appreciate the help! This is a great website!
thereuare Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Thank you for sharing your win(s) with the board. Please use a separate thread for each win... we'll use this thread for your first stay at 6 Columbus Circle, please start a NEW TOPIC for your win at the Grand Hyatt. This will enable others to see eacch win when scanning the topic titles on the board as well as have each appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.PRICELINE offers a 'best rate guarantee' so if your winning bid price is more than the prevailing rate for the same room type at 6 Columbus Circle then you should be able to get a refund of the difference. Can you please report back after your stay what type of room you received (a 'pod' room or a 'standard' room)Thanks for the compliments on the website... glad you found the information here helpful (and used our PRICELINE link for each purchase)Enjoy your stay(s).
