LA New Orleans Renaissance Arts

Very nice hotel. Smaller than the big convention hotels on Canal Street, the Renaissance Arts is only five floors - but very well appointed. The hotel is also a working art gallery, with contemporary painting and sculpture just about everywhere you look .

Staff were very good - bellman was at my cab almost before it stopped. Check-in was smooth, and they gave me a choice of bed size and smoking class.

I took a non-smoking king - it was on the second floor overlooking the street...there is some street noise, but the room has a CD player, and I always travel with an "Oceans Sounds" CD to wash-out the background sound in hotel rooms. If you were not overlooking the street this wouldn't be a problem.

The room was about 490 Sq. Ft. with a good work area (with high-speed @ $9.95 per day), large bathroom (nice soaps), coffee maker, TV, and mini-bar. Bed is comfortable, and has great quality sheets/pillows.

I didn't eat at the hotel, but the room service menu is quite extensive - and pricing doesn't appear to be out of line for New Orleans.

It's a 12 minute walk (down safe, well-lit streets) to Bourbon Street, and 5 minutes to Harrah's Casino.

All in all a great hotel at the $65 I got it at, and a FANTASTIC deal at the $47 that it has come up at for other bidders.
