kitddcor Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 Hi -- I am looking for two hotel rooms in Chicago -- either the Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area; or the North Michigan Ave - River North Area. My travel dates are fixed, I'm looking for rooms on 4/11 and 4/12. I bid on priceline today up to $120 with no luck. In your opinion, am I too close to the date and I should keep upping my bid? I can wait a week or two, but I'm organizing for two couples and I don't want to end up having to pay sky high prices, or not get anything in the city. In searching on other websites, it looks like a lot of stuff is sold out that weekend. Any advice on bidding strategies would be greatly appreciated. It looks like people are getting things for cheaper, but maybe I'm just going at a bad time. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 Welcome to the board :)This is going to be a very problematic time to try and get a hotel room in the city due to:4/11/2008 - 4/13/2008 2008 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show and Conference Convention McCormick PlaceDelegates: 60000 Taking up a good majority of the rooms.Prices are sky high for these dates currently and many hotels are booked solid. While rooms *may* (and that's a big MAY) open up close to the dates, I'd highly recommend booking a back-up reservation. What is your max budget?
thereuare Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional methods? (user our BetterChecker to assist in your search)What is your gameplan if PRICELINE doesn't come thru for you in the Downtown area for under $150? (as this seems like a realistic possibility given current prices) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
