Well for the past few years you could always test the waters when bidding by entering the wrong three numbers from the back of the card. When doing this if you were going to win a room PL would come back and ask for the correct three numbers and if you were not going to win it would say they found nothing for your offer. This is no longer the case as today I won the room without entering the correct three numbers. So I will be taking an unexpected trip to sin city :) . This is just a heads up to anyone else that has been using this trick. I am just glad it happened on a one night stay and not a 5 nighter.

huh? what are you talking about?

In the past if you were not sure where to start your bid and did not want to over bid you could place a bid and when you get to the part where PL asks for the 3 numbers from the back of the card you could put in the wrong numbers and the bid would not go through until you entered the correct numbers. If PL came back and asked for the correct numbers you knew your bid was going to be accepted and you could start a new bid at a lower amount so as not to over bid. Are you with me (hl23) or have you never bid for a room before?

i have bid a number of times on priceline successfully using these sites to develop a bidding strategy. i believe i have never paid more than a few dollars over what the lowest acceptable bid would be. i am quite surprised that priceline would accept a bid with the wrong security code. that would be like someone getting ahold of your credit card number and guessing a 3 digit code (or 4 for my amex). if you challeneged the charge you would probably succeed as the code was wrong. (providing you didn't actually use the res!) Palazzo is a great hotel as i was just there 2 weeks ago and my wife is still raving that it was the best place she has ever stayed at! that is one great testament coming from someone who is not easily impressed!!

Well I got the PL room this time. I had a XX922 room and it was at the end of the hall by the exit door and the wind was blowing hard outside. The howling was coming under my door and it sounded like a train was coming through. So if they offer you a XX922 or XX921 room ask for some thing else. The good part of this stay was that there was a top sheet on the bed :)

This is a great hotel with great drink service. This could all change when they get enough customers without PLs help.
