Priceline Hotel: Help w/Avoiding Hilton Washington Towers

We're shopping for a room for two in DC, for 3/14-3/17. We're willing to use Priceline, but do NOT want Hilton Washington Towers. We've been reading this forum, and also checking HOTWIRE for reference.

Hilton Washington (Towers) shows up as a DuPont Circle 3* on the list here, but the frequent wins over on the Hotwire side show it as DuPont Circle 4*. Are we correct that we will NOT get Hilton Washiongton Towers if we confine our bids to 4* in DuPont Circle?

Also noted that on HOTWIRE the the DuPont Circle 4* that's showing up at ~$85 for our dates does NOT include the TA Reviews section. Might that be a give-away that the hotel is in fact the (lower rated) Hilton Washington Towers rather than the (similar amenities) Palomar?

Thanks very much.

Welcome to BetterBidding.

Not exactly. As per the paragraph at the top of each hotel list

This list is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Priceline offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. Hotels are added/removed by Priceline all the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time.

If you have seen recent wins with priceline that grade the Hilton Washington Towers as a 3* then you could assume that bidding 4* will not get the aforementioned hotel. It is still a RISK though.

....does NOT include the TA Reviews section. Might that be a give-away that the hotel is in fact the (lower rated) Hilton Washington Towers rather than the (similar amenities) Palomar?

The TA reviews section (or lack of it) can be a help in identifying hotels with similar amenities.

If you build a package for your dates then you'll see that the 4* that matches the amenities for the HOTWIRE opaque side (which I see at $109) is the Palomar.

So IMHO the 4* I see with Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access for $109 for those dates in April is the Palomar.

If you choose to use HOTWIRE then please use the support link.

Good luck.

As per the Hotwire Hotel List the Hilton has been seen with the same amenities as the Palomar, so this could be either. While the lack of a TripAdvisor rating is certainly much less conclusive than when it's shown and using that info to assist in identifying a hotel, i do not recall seeing the Palomar won when a TripAdvisor rating was not shown.

So this certainly could be the Palomar, but i would probably give the edge to the Hilton.

Bottomline is that if you don't want the Hilton, you shouldn't buy any hotel on HOTWIRE where you could rule it out as a possibility (ie- for instance if a TA rating is shown and is far away from the rating of the Hilton) Have you also tried increasing your room occupancy to more than 2adults (trying different combinations of 2adults/1child, 2adults/2children, etc) as that often will give you a different prpoerty offered.

Please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases if you go that route... or this PRICELINE link if you decide to bid for this stay.

Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help.
