Priceline Hotel: Resort San Antonio (West) Radisson Hill Country

I'm absolutely thrilled, and surprised, at this win. This was a hard-fought and unexpected

win (I know that sounds contradictory, but see biding history and it will make sense):

Initially was targeting a 4* in the Downtown/Riverwalk area, using multiple free re-bid

zones started bidding at $80 and worked up to $128 over 23 bids before giving up.

Then I switched to targeting a 3* in the airport area (won a Holiday Inn Select for $60

last summer in this area, and looking at their pricing and inventory in that area this was

was I expected to win this time). The only re-bid zone that I included that could have

netted me a different area was the West... since the West went straight from 2.5* to

Resort I considered it an additional free zone (and I wouldn't be upset if I won a resort

in that part of town anyhow, since Seaworld is going to be a big part of our trip). Started

bidding at $36/night, at $54 and above I was given the opportunity to "bid again now" if

I added anywhere from $17 to $19/night (I got this message several times when the

"West" zone was not in play as what I thought to be a free re-bid zone). I increased

my bid to $62 over a total of 18 bids... the last re-bid that included the West zone prior

to winning was $59/night (so I suppose there was a potential to maybe squeeze out

another $2 savings :) ).

Bottom line is I was very pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a resort in the

West. This Radisson goes for $229 when booked direct, and Priceline offered this room

through it's direct-book option for $219/night... so the $62/night represents an almost

unbelievable savings of $157/night.... nearly 72% off of the best price I could find

otherwise :) !!!! When I saw this hotel pop up I honestly thought they must have made

a mistake!
