xmeil Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Hi guys,I am very new here. This is actually my first post. My friends and I are going to the Association of American Geographers 2008 conference in Boston April 15-19. According to the officials, there going to be 7000 scholars and students all over the world going there. The discount rooms in the main conference hotels were sold out, yet there are a few full price rooms left which are 400 dollars per night. My friends and I going to share the expenditure, still it is a lot of money for students. I have been keeping my eye on updated successful biddings for the past two weeks, meanwhile I bid several times with no success. No matter it is a 4 star in the Copley place where the conference is held or a 3 star downtown hotel in the financial district. I was wondering the hotels may not give out the price for that week yet cause it is a huge meeting. So, i was thinking if i should wait until the week before the meeting, say 4/7-4/12 to bid, or I should do it now with a much higher price. I am really concerned about room vacancy. Is there going to be any room left in the area or surrounding areas if I wait until the week before, considering the 7000 people attending the conference?? Any suggestions? A bunch of thanks !!!
thereuare Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Few comments...For a discussion on 'when to bid' see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ. Do you expect conference attendees to cancel? If not, what makes you think the prices will go down as you get closer to your check-in dates? How many people do you intend to put in the room? Priceline only guarantees double occupancy, HOTWIRE will allow you to search for up to quad occupancy (but is usually a little more expensive than priceline).Other good sources for periods of high demand include GTA Hotels, Quickbook, and LastMinuteTravel.... do these sites offer anything in your budget? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
