janieb25 Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 This is my first experience with Priceline and we really like it! Needed a hotel for Friday night before a cruise and wanted it in the port area (downtown Miami). Started with $70 and 4* for the area and when denied, raised the bid to $80 and added 3* (with our trip coming up very soon, I was anxious to get a hotel). Got this hotel which listed at $239 (or $249) for that night on Hotel.com or Hotwire (can't remember) and $219 ($229?) on the hotel's website. It used to be a Radisson and is now a Hilton. I have spent my time since 2/17 (today is 2/19) just exploring this website which is great!!! Maybe I could have gotten this hotel for less if I had tried the kind of bidding I have since read about on these forums, but I still don't quite understand that bidding. One question I do have, can you immediately make another bid for just the area you are looking for by increasing it by $20? Or, do you have to wait 24 hours to do that? Also, can you immediately make another bid by adding a lower star (ie. started with 4* and add 3*) or can you only make another bid by adding another area? Thanks to all the information on this website for our first Priceline purchase!janieb25
thereuare Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing your winning bid with the board... glad the information here was helpful in your purchase and that you're happy with the results. It used to be a Radisson and is now a Hilton. Can you please list the address of the property you received.can you immediately make another bid for just the area you are looking for by increasing it by $20? Or, do you have to wait 24 hours to do that? Also, can you immediately make another bid by adding a lower star (ie. started with 4* and add 3*) or can you only make another bid by adding another area? You can only make one identical bid every 24 hours (changing the price doesn't count), but you can bid again if you can lower your star rating, add a zone, or change your check-in/check-out dates. This is where re-bidding comes into play... see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained for more information and let us know if you have any additional questions.Enjoy your stay.
