jzsmom Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 my family is planning a trip during my son's spring break which is march 24 thru 28. i have noticed on the hotels' own sites that sunday and monday are the cheapest days. we have already stayed at the stratosphere twice (no complaints, good prices thru their website), and DO NOT want to be that far north (circus circus may still be too far north). we have to be on or VERY CLOSE to strip. i'm getting the impression that everyone bidding under $100 is getting the westin just off the strip - is that central, north, or south? here is our fantasy hotel: 3.5 star (or better); central or south strip; and $80/ night (too low for 3.5 star?). i'm still new to all of this, so any and all tips, suggestions, and strategies are greatly appreciated!
thereuare Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 1) Will you be bidding for your Colorado stay? Please follow-up that thread with any progress, or cancellation, in order to add some 'closure' to it, rather than leave it 'open' for future users to wonder what you ultimatley did.2) How many people will be in the room for Vegas?3) Is you husband going on this trip... is his height an issue (given your previous comments in the Colorado thread)4) Given the price difference of the first 2 nites vs. the last 2 nites, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jzsmom Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 i will follow up with the colorado one - thanks for the reminder! there will be 2 adults, one 7 yr old, and one 1 yr old. and yes my 6'9" husband is joining us (as far as i can guess, the only issue is the king size bed). the youngest one sleeps with us, and we'd love to get a room that might have a pull out; otherwise, we'll probably get a roll away. i guess splitting the stay is doable. does that mean we'd have to check out of our room and then check back into another room if we got it at the same hotel? thanks so much for your help!
doddy Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 Hi there. We are Australians and were very unfamiliar with HOTWIRE until last year. We booked our mystery flight and got the Westin in Las Vegas. It is the one that you mentioned. It was checp..$76 a night..they upgraded us to preferred customers (dont ask me why..must be the accent) and our room was fantastic. We had a hire car but truly didnt need it. It was so close. We basically turned the corner and were in the middle of things. The problem is..I have no idea which was is north or south. Ask me the same question in Australia and i could tell you but............ Anyway..picture this..if you walk out of the hotel to your right you will come to the strip (maybe 100 meters?). If you turn LEFT it will take you to the airport! Does that help? lol If you turn to the right, it seemed to be central just there! We are going back this year and crave for sleeping n that bloody heavenly bed again.Have fun!
