rosieiop Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 please be aware of possible resort fees: we won a 4.5*hotel in hallandale FL which turned out to be the diplomat country club, the hotel is very luxurious but the mandatory resort fees of $140 were a shock. We orginally were quoted $183 a night, now we are up to $323!!Joining the class action lawsuit!

You can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top of their home page.the mandatory resort fees of $140 were a shock. We orginally were quoted $183 a night, now we are up to $323!!This doesn't seem plausible... the resort feel was $140 per nite per room?? I can't believe that to be the case. rosieiop Posted February 16, 2008 Author Report Posted February 16, 2008 Our amentities were:golftennisspabeach near by ( we had use of the westin Diplomat)and yes the fee was $135 for 'Opague' which I looked up online and confirmed this was for the shampoos. soaps, etc. they also tacked on 4.99 a day for the fax machine ( who uses a fax at a golf resort?) and $35 for internet for 2 days. They setttled a class action lawsuit last year for specifically this cause, but another at least one more that I know of has started.I should add this hotel had excellent service, facilities and staff; when I approached the front desk about the charges they said it was my regular fee. I politely asked them to please check once more and they returned with the charges removed from my bill.
thereuare Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Our amentities were:golftennisspabeach near by ( we had use of the westin Diplomat)We're looking for the amenities of the hotel that HOTWIRE showed before your purchase. You can still view these as per the instructions above. (and also add the dates of your stay)$135 for 'Opague' which I looked up online and confirmed this was for the shampoos. soaps, etc.Can you please provide a link to this information as it really doesn't make any sense?I politely asked them to please check once more and they returned with the charges removed from my bill.So they removed all the charges from your bill? Sounds like a mistake to me (they mistakenly tried to charge you the rate that HOTWIRE pre-paid, $135) and they corrected it when you brought it to their attention. So to confirm, you didn't pay anything extra?
