tslugmo Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Saw hotwire was showing what could only be the Caribe for $134/night according to your list, so I figured they'd probably come up for my priceline bid below that, and if not I could always Hotwire it. Was hoping by some chance to get the Marriot or Intercontinental instead, but knew that was a longshot. Started bidding at $105 yesterday morning since I had several rebids, raised in $5 increments, accepted at $115 within a few minutes. I'm happy, other options were very pricey and time was running short. This trip is being done on the "cheap" so it didn't have to be (and couldn't be) the best hotel possible. I'm sure we'll have fun.Hilton's site said $224 for nonrefundable fully paid cheapest rate. $207 on Hotels.com. $115 is cheaper than the Best Western by $50/night.Suggestion: Separate out the resorts by region so it's easier to tell how many free rebids are available. You have listed under San Juan: Resort El Conquistador and Resort El San Juan, but those are not in San Juan bidding zone. Makes it tough to decipher there are free rebids in Dorado and Mayaguez IMHO.Your Hotwire list was very helpful, though. I made a donation as a thanks.-tslugmo
thereuare Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing yoru win with the board.Glad to hear the information here was helpful in your purchase and thanks for making a donation to the board.Suggestion: Separate out the resorts by region so it's easier to tell how many free rebids are available. You have listed under San Juan: Resort El Conquistador and Resort El San Juan, but those are not in San Juan bidding zone. Makes it tough to decipher there are free rebids in Dorado and Mayaguez IMHO.The hotel lists are separated by zone... the El Conquistador was listed in both the San Juan zone (incorrectly) as well as the (Rio Grande-Humacao) zone. As per your post we have removed this property from the San Juan zone. However, the El San Juan is in the San Juan zone... just north of the eastern edge of the airport, which is in the San Juan zone. If you disagree please let us know which zone you believe it should be in.However, a BIG warning... as per the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List, DO NOT use the hotel lists to determine your re-bid zones. Changes take place before they're reported to the board, and relying on the hotel lists to determine your re-bid zones can easily land you in an area you don't wish to stay. For the proper way to check your re-bid zones, see this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask any questions that you have. Thanks again... have a great trip. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tslugmo Posted February 13, 2008 Author Report Posted February 13, 2008 My bad, thanks for pointing that out. Glad I didn't get stuck somewhere I wasn't expecting! :) This is our first time to Puerto Rico, we're looking forward to exploring, from what you've said, it sounds like a nice place. How many times have you been, you seem to be quite an expert on it!
