jkhawks Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Can anyone tell me what is going on that weekend in Chicago? I have had absolutely no luck finding anything below book price. I tried to bid last night and went as high as $125 and still nothing. I don't do this too often, so can someone advise me whether there is any hope there may be some deals out there when I get inside 2 weeks before the trip? I am thinking about canceling my trip because the hotel costs are just going to completely wipe me out. Thanks
thereuare Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Chicago Dental Society Annual Midwinter Meeting will be hosting 32K attendees which is not HUGE, but certainly "pretty big" for Chicago and probably the event affecting room rates. What is your maximum budget per nite for this stay? jkhawks Posted February 7, 2008 Author Report Posted February 7, 2008 I would probably not want to go much above what I tried last night, just by the time you add in parking, we're already over $160 a night.
thereuare Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I'd try GTA Hotels, Quickbook, and LastMinuteTravel. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AaronJB Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 You can park in the city lot at Millennium park for about $20.I see on HOTWIRE what appears to be a match for the Allegro (3.5* Loop, boutique, fitness, business, restaurant, internet) for $135. The Allegro's location isn't outstanding - it's in the West Loop area, which is mainly a business area and therefore rather quiet at night. However, the hotel actually reopens on 2/22 - it's currently in the midst of a major (to the point where the hotel has been closed to the public completely for the last month or two) renovation. It's not too far a walk to the Art Institute or State St. shopping from here. However, Michigan Ave. shopping is more of a hike. There's also a 3* Mag Mile/Streeterville for $129 with breakfast, fitness, restaurant, internet. I'm guessing this is possibly the new Holiday Inn Express that was formerly the basic Cass Hotel. Great location, but not as nice a hotel as the Allegro. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link if either of these are of interest.
