erin rae Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 I'm trying to get a 5* room in London for four nights, April 23-April 27. Ideally don't want to spend >$225.Zones: Mayfair/Soho, Bloomsbury/Marble Arch (though nothing currently available at 5*), Westminster, Knightsbridge/Kensington (nothing 5* currently). My bidding history: Bid at $175 for Mayfair/Soho. Not accepted. Priceline offered a room for $284.Bid $195 for Mayfair/Soho and Westminster. Offer rejected.Started new bid for $220 Mayfair/Soho. Not accepted. Priceline offered $284 again.I'm totally new to this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Erin
thereuare Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! You will likely be able to do better than $284 for a 5* hotel, but i'm doubtful you'll be successful at $225 or less. You can either:-wait it out and hope that lower prices come into play betwen now and your stay (while the risk is that the 5* hotel available for $225-$284 is no longer available while you wait)-lower your star rating-raise your maximum bidHave you been able to find any acceptable hotels (non-opaque) available for your dates at $250 or less? erin rae Posted January 29, 2008 Author Report Posted January 29, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions!Since I'd rather save the cash for spending, I decided to take your recommendation of going for a 4*, and lowered my price considerably.Bid $110 for Mayfair-Soho. Not acceptedBid $110 for Bloomsbury-Marble Arch. Not accepted.Bid $100 for Regents Park/Baker St. ACCEPTED! Hilton London Metropole it is!Thanks again.
