simplton Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Aloha,Travelling to Boston 7/9-7/13 and decided to try Priceline for the first time. Budget is a maximum of $200 a night but I am sure it can be done for cheaper. Would like to stay in the Downtown Boston or the Copley Area. Would prefer a 4*but if the bidding fails I will try a 3* with a lower maximum of $150. Appreciate the help.
thereuare Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!I think you have a good chance at being successful under $200, but it may come very close to that figure... are you willing to go that high this far ahead of your stay? simplton Posted January 29, 2008 Author Report Posted January 29, 2008 How early is to early? :) Guess I was jumping the gun at this point. When would you recommend I start searching on Priceline?
thereuare Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 For a discussion of "when to bid", see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.My take, and i haven't researched it extensively at this point, but i see plenty of hotels in these zones at the $195-$225 range... so why lock in a non-refundable rate at that price nearly 6 months before your stay? Unfortnately these rates i'm seeing have a $25 cancellation fee, so not the ideal back-up (although you would only need to better this by $8/nite so not terrible), and Quickbook (a site with very good rates and most rates fully cancellable) is currently down for maintenance... but if you bump this thread tomorrow i'll have another look and if nothing give some of the $25 cancellation suggestions. It's not that you shouldn't begin to bid yet, but i would be looking to do substantially better than your next best deal to make locking in a non-refundable reservation at this point in time. simplton Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 Sorry the delay in a reply. Had a few computer issues and some time commitments as well. Still looking for a room in Boston and last week was able to get a room in Vegas with Priceline. Will have to post the details.
