robertknyc Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 I'm bidding for a 4* Strip hotel 2/22-2/26 and was wondering if they had taken the Monte Carlo off the priceline system since it still comes up on Hotels.com. It seems that they have since before the fire I was getting counteroffers for $109 which I figured to be the Monte Carlo (they had the lowest posted rates), and today I got a counter of $122, most likely representing the Luxor which has a deal at $130 avg/night on their MVP promotion. I bid up to $102 with no luck, but will bid again tomorrow and post the results when I get a win.
thereuare Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I don't show any rates for the Monte Carlo when searching Hotels.comMore importantly, the Monte Carlo reservation system is down. While no announcement has been made that they have been (temporarily) pulled from Priceline, nor would such an annoucment be expected, it would be presumed that with no bookings taking place on their own website that they wouldn't be taking any reservations thru third party sources either. For the heck of it I tried the same on Orbitz.com and it appeared there. Interestingly, the MGM Grand is sold out, so perhaps they have en masse transferred all the MC reservations there. It also comes up on Expedia.com but not on Travelocity.com Not sure why these sites still have it listed.
thereuare Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I see the rates you're refering to on Hotels.com, earlier on the dates i checked were unavailable. Just tried again for some random dates, 2/8-2/10, and it shows as unavailable. It's possible that these rates haven't pulled down by Monte Carlo yet, or it may have something to do with the cache system that Hotels.com uses. Or maybe they're content to book guests at the Monte Carlo and let them get 'walked' upon check-in to the MGM Grand or one of the other MGM properties.
