Dates: Check in March 7, 2008, Check out March 8, 2008

Price:$272/night

Amenities are Resort, Beachfront, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaraunt(s), Business Center, Laundry

Hmmm, not too happy with the trip advisor reports. How about the 3.5 star @ $256/night, with the following amenities? I checked the big stickied list, but I didnt see any exact matches. Any idea which it is (still in San Juan)? Same dates as before (March 7)

Near Beach

Casino

Pool

Business Center

Golf Nearby

Spa Services

Oceanfront

Fitness Center

Restaurant

Laundry

Tennis Nearby

Not that you should take the El San Juan, but as i often comment on the board, you really have to temper your expectations for the 'perfect' hotel in San Juan. Generally it's an expensive hotel market, and service levels are not up to the prices typically paid, so many users are disappointed and therefore write negative reviews. Although part of the US, the city still operates on "island time", so it's not that service is bad, it's just not what most visitors expect when paying the high prices the hotels there often command.

The above 3.5* property is a match for the Condado Plaza so that would be our best guess.

If you're looking further, i'm not sure what you require from this stay, but you could book the Holiday Inn for just $195/nite. The public areas are nicer than what i typically expect from a Holiday Inn (i've never been in the rooms so i can't comment in that respect), it's walkable to the beach, and the reviews are pretty good (again, relative to San Juan). It may not be what you set out for, but for the savings vs. the other hotels you're considering it maybe be a good value.

Oh, dont worry, my expectations are tempered. Its more that quite a few of the tripadvisor reviews, at least the most recent, for the El San Juan mentioned bedbugs (as well as having read about that very thing on another forum). The condado is probably what I will go with (after speaking with the wife tonight). I will use your link. Thanks again
