I was going over my old photos and came across the ones I took while I was in Chicago. I noticed I had some of my hotel room and thought that was kind of strange...until I remembered I was going to post them for my review of Affinia Chicago...that I never did :)

So even though this is quite late, I hope this somewhat helps out people who are considering staying here.

Photos of my hotel room can be viewed here: http://picasaweb.google.com/sue.bee72/AffiniaChicago

I stayed at the Affinia Chicago from December 27 - 31, 2006. My friend and I arrived in Chicago quite late, well past 1AM. I had already notified the hotel a few days ahead of time to let them know we'd be coming in late (I don't know if that did anything though...). The front door is usually locked at night, so the clerk at the desk had to buzz us in. For some reason that made me feel a little safer. The clerk at the desk was quite helpful despite looking like he was ready to crash and checked us in promptly. He said we would be staying in the junior suite and gave us our keys.

The room was surprisingly large. I'm not sure if you can tell from the photos, but when you walk in there's a sitting area with a bar and a writing desk tucked in the far left back corner. There's a barrier type thing you walk past and then you're in the living/TV area. Hang a right and you're in the bedroom. There were no doors separating the rooms, just one for the bathroom. The room seemed fairly decent but not all new and spiffy like I had been expecting. Most everything, including the furniture, looked a little worn. My only real complaint was that the room overall was way too dark. Even with all the lights on at night, it never seemed like there was enough light. Maybe they should switch to fluorescents :) Daytime was slightly better but not by much, even with all the curtains open.

Never had a problem with noise, cleaning staff, hotel staff, other guests. The location was convenient and we got around town easily on foot. The staff was always helpful if we had any questions or needed something. Even though some parts of the city are kinda creepy and feel unsafe (especially at night), we never had any problems in the area around the hotel.

One funny thing to note was during the middle of our stay, we came back to the hotel one night to find a folded rolling bed in the living/TV area. Neither of us had asked for one and even if we had, we thought it strange that they would bring it to the room so late into our stay. It was gone the next day though, so maybe it had been meant for another room. OK, so maybe it was only funny to me...

I wouldn't mind staying at the Affinia again should I ever head back to Chicago. Especially for the Priceline deal I got!
