longstreet Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Would appreciate any help.Hotwire has an offer of $221 for 2/5 - 2/8 in a 4* MTC.Ammenities are Fitness Center, Restaurants, Business Center, and High Speed Internet Access. From what I can tell, this is either the Soffitel or the Helmsley Park Central. My issue is that I would gladly do this for the Soffitel, but dont want to be all the way up at the Helmsley (which also gets not so great reviews).I looked back in the posts and the last 4* in midtown central that was won seemed to be way back in September - and it was at the Soffitel - but just wondered if anyone had any advice.....THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
kh_ Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Assuming we're looking at the same one, the tripadvisor review number and rating precludes the Sofitel
longstreet Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 Assuming we're looking at the same one, the tripadvisor review number and rating precludes the SofitelIm confused by your response. What does the tripadvisor review and rating have to do with the hotwire rating?Hotwire offers the 4* hotel, and using the post at this site with the hotel listings, it seems that the 2 hotels that hotwire uses with these amenities are the soffitel and helmsley.Am I missing something?

thereuare Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Helmsley would be a better guess than the Sofitel for the above property.I'll also add that depending upon your needs, i think there are better values out there for these dates.HOTWIRE has a 3.5* in MTE for $134/nite which i suspect is the Tudor Hotel at the United Nations. It may not be the Sofitel, but for nearly $100/nite less it probably offers a better value. I stayed here one nite and the room was larger than i imagined it would be (for NYC) but i also didn't need to interact with the staff at all for our one nite stay, and i seldom have the need for concierge services and the like (so i can't comment in that regard, but for a nice room to sleep it was fine for us)Also less than a 4* (and perhaps not a 3* either :)) is The Pod with a private bath for just $115/nite. While it may not have the star rating, the reviews have been very good.Again, both of the above should be fine if you're looking for a clean room and place to sleep, but may be a little low on the stars if you're looking for room service, high thread count linens, concierge service, etc.You also may want to consider a search on Quickbook, which has some nice deals for your dates at The Gild, 6 Columbus Circle, and the Eastgate Tower.Let us know if any of the above work for your needs and what you choose to do, or if we can be of further help. THANKS SO MUCH, I never noticed this.....THEREUARE - thank you very much for the tips. I did see the Tudor (most likely) listed at 134, but was willing to pay a little bit more for the soffitel if that was indeed an option. I will also check out your other suggestions and update the thread - and whatever I decide will use your links to support the site. Thanks for all of the help!!!
longstreet Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Posted January 23, 2008 New identification help please:4* MTE for 189 for 2/5-2/8Ammenities are Restaurant, High Speed Internet, and Business Center. There are no matches on the hotwire list post here.Any guesses?THANKS
thereuare Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 The above MTE hotel has not yet been identified, but i'm finding a LOT of options within this price range (and some a bit cheaper).Quikbook at the Eastgate Tower for $150/nite (or a 1BR suite for $165/nite) and the property gets very good reviews. If you're looking for something nicer Quickbook also has the Fitzpatick Grand Central for $216/nite and it too get excellent reviews.GTA Hotels has the Affinia Manhattan for $211/nite and is also very highly ratedI'll also mention a value/budget option which is The Pod, which is a budget hotel which offers the 'basics', but at only $115/nite for a room with a private bath, it would leave plenty of money left over to do some 'extra' things in NYC that might make your trip more memorable. (reviews)Do any of the above options work for your needs? If not, what is it that you're looking for from this stay?
