Hello!

I am taking my wife to Vegas for her birthday, our first visit. We are looking for

two nights, with a stay from 4-27 to 4-29. I wanted to give priceline a spin,

and tried five bids using the rebid techniques on 5* hotels, from 165-205 with

no luck. Is the Sunday night a problem?

I could go to a 4*, but I am not sure what prices to try with 4* included. We

really want either North or South Strip.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Rates for your dates at the Venetian are $300 and $400 respectively, so if one of the nites is causing the trouble it's the second nite at $400/nite.

If you want to try for a 4* property, what is your maximum bid at that star level? Also, at the 4* level the Westin becomes a possibility, and while not too far off the strip (most find it easily walkable), it's not on the strip itself.. is this an acceptable option for you? (if not, don't worry as there are other options)

Let us know the above and we'll advise further.

I checked Treasure Island and it appears the cheapest room is $150 a night and Luxor at $139 (for the Monday night), so I would be interested

in $100 a night there, though after reading the reviews of the Westin, I hesitate to attempt a 4* South because of it. I am however not opposed

to utilizing Hotwire instead of Priceline though I am less familiar with it. So for now, I would rather play around a bit before attempting any bid that

would land me at the Westin. I am not opposed to split bids if I end up averaging around $200 a night at the 5* level.

Thanks again!

The average rate for your dates at the Luxor is $125/nite.

If you'd like to bid up to $100 for a hotel in the North Strip zone you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: Summerlin is NOT one of them)

Select 4* North Strip...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.

Select 4* North Strip and re-bid zone2...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $100.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

At $105, plus priceline's booking fee, you're looking at about $112/nite plus taxes... only a $13/nite saivngs over booking directly with The Luxor.

I would book The Luxor (please use our link) as it's cancellable adn you can then continue to try Priceline and/or check HOTWIRE to better this deal as you get closer to your check-in date.

In vegas rates fluctuate ALL the time, and since the Luxor is cancellable, i would reserve that in order to lock-in the price... then you can just cancel if/when you find something better. Still plenty of time between now and April.
