Priceline Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (North Strip) Palazzo

I'm new to Priceline and Hotwire and was referred to your site. It looks incredibly helpful! Thanks!!! I've been a couple times, but am bringing my girlfriend for the first time so I would like to stay somewhere nice and with a relatively center strip location. I would like to spend under $150/nt if possible. Lower is, of course, better. Recommendations?! Thanks again!

NOTE: I accidentally posted this in the General Topics Forum also. Please delete as this is where it should be... I think... I'm new here.

To be clear with the response to the previous topic:

"Not really sure how to interpret this... would you prefer to be close to the convention center or on the strip? These are two (three actually) different zones on Priceline.

What is your maximum budget per nite? Are you willing to pay more for a 4* hotel vs. a 3* hotel or are you looking for the least expensive 3* or better hotel for this stay? Which zone(s) are you willing to bid? (look at hour priceline defines the boudnaries of each zone)"

I am looking at Priceline. My "max" budget is $150/nt. Ideally I would bid on Las Vegas Strip North. I'm afraid if I bid on South I will end up at the Westin. After looking at the map again I guess West of Strip 4* (Rio) would be a good second choice. Also, I am willing to pay more for a 5* then 4*. Depending on how much more the 5*'s are I may be willing to increase my "max" budget, but I don't want to spend much more. If you need anything else let me know and I'll try to come up with some answers. Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate it.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I don't think your budget will be an issue for a 4* hotel on the strip, but i do think your Saturday nite check-in is going to prevent you from getting the best deal possible.

Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

If you decide not to split and fail at the North strip zone, i think you have other/better options than near Strip West... especially for your girlfriend's first time (location-wise i think the Westin is a better choice than the Rio)... stay someplace on the strip.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll move forward.

I accidentally posted this on the Hotwire side the first time. I'm taking my girlfriend to Vegas for the time in March. I was planning on trying to go 5* North Strip, but after looking at "thereuare"s advice I figure 4* North or South would be fine. My budget is 150/nt

I tried Priceline today in the following way...

4* South Strip bid $75

They came back with $135.50

I had read about people on here splitting the difference so I added the North Strip and increased my bid to $105.

Unfortunately, they didn't accept the bid. As I said I'm willing to spend $150/nt, but every dollar saved is a dollar we can spend on fun in Vegas and the trip isn't so soon that I need to get this done the first day. Any advice on where to go from here? Thanks again!!!

UPDATE

So, I closed out the browser and started again, through SavingsBarn of course, and added Airport LAS upping the bid to $110.

Not accepted.

Added West of Strip (I wouldn't mind the Rio) and upped to $115.

Still not accepted.

Looks like I'll try again tomorrow with whatever advice you guys have. Thanks!

Which is why i think you're better off answering the questions we have asked regarding your stay rather than 'winging' it as you go along, as your approach above could have easily resulted in an overbid (as well as a hotel i think you previously stated you didn't want)

Let's try and get back on track...

I'm afraid if I bid on South I will end up at the Westin
I tried Priceline today in the following way...

4* South Strip bid $75

The Westin is in the South Strip zone... is the Westin currently an acceptable hotel? If so, is there a reason you're not bidding the North zone as well?

The Westin is acceptable. I took what you said in your earlier reply, checked out the Westin further and decided it would be fine. To put it simply ANY 4* or 5* in Strip North, South or West is acceptable for under $150/nt (with the West being my last resort). Splitting my bid is not an option as I would rather pay more to be comfortable and not have to move. I think that answers everything, but if you have any other questions let me know. I will wait to hit Priceline again until I have a strategy from you guys. Thanks for your patience.

24 hours after your last rejected bid...

You have two re-bid zones available when bidding 4* in Las Vegas. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: Summerlin is NOT one of them)

Select 4* North Strip...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* South Strip...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* North Strip and South Strip...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

So, after all of this I saw how much luck everyone was having with the Palazzo so I thought I would give that a try before heading back to the 4* plan tomorrow. With only a small increase in my budget I could stay at a real 5*. I started with North Strip $165 figuring that I would go to $180 as my max. They accepted $165 for 3/15-3/18. Which means I probably could have gotten it slightly cheaper, but I'm still extremely happy with that price. My total including taxes/fees was $558.45 and on their website before taxes etc. that same stay is $827 + tax! That Monday is St. Patrick's.

Thanks again to everybody and I booked through SavingsBarn.

If you're looking for the 'eternal' shows (those that have been there forever) in Vegas you'll find plenty of 2 for 1 coupons once you arrive (although note, most of these often come with a 1 or 2 drink minimum).

If you're looking for the 'hot' showns of Vegas... the Cirque du Soleil shows or those of similar caliber, these typically sell-out on their own and you're not likely to find discounts anywhere for them.

The last time I was in Vegas, Half Price Tickets and Tix4 Tonight had good deals for shows midweek (even some of the higher end shows). Keep in mind that they charge a per ticket fee on top of their advertised price. The fee can make shows in the $25 range and shows that are not highly discounted not much of a deal. $25 ticket at 50% off plus $10 fee is $22.50. I don't remember the exact fee but I know you have to be careful.

The timeshare folks will offer you free tickets on every corner. There are 2fer coupons in the hotel room magazines. Sometimes when you sign up for a slot club the casino gives you a show coupon.
