Hi. I am new to all this so I hope someone can help me!

My friend and I are planning a trip to New York and Philadelphia in February. We would like to stay in minimum 3* hotels and need 2 beds. We will be in New York from 11th February to 12th February 2008 and 15th February to 17th February 2008. The average price on Priceline says $239 per night. We don't mind what hotel we stay in as long as it is in Midtown Manhattan.

We would like to get it for less than $200 per night inc tax if possible.

Can anyone suggest what we could bid? Should we bid now as it is only 4 weeks away? How can we get 2 beds in the room?

Thanks a lot for all your help in advance! :)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

We will be in New York from 11th February to 12th February 2008 and 15th February to 17th February 2008
Please only post one stay per thread. We'll use this thread to continue your stay for Feb 11, please start a NEW TOPIC for Feb 15-17 stay.
...and need 2 beds
If this is a want more than a need then you can proceed to bid on priceline. However, if this is a "must have" then HOTWIRE is likely going to be a better option. Priceline only guarantees double occupancy, nothing regarding the number of beds in the room. On the other hand, HOTWIRE enables you to search for up to quad occupancy, and guarantees sleeping accomodations for each person you include in your search. Therefore, if you search for triple occupancy, it ensures separate beds (although one of these beds could be a pullout couch, rollaway, etc)

Please post your maximum budget before taxes and fees.

Let us know how you would like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for putting too many trips in!

2 beds is a want really - considering the prices in NYC! Can you bid on priceline for a triple occupancy room?

Maximum budget would be $160 per night before tax etc.

Our main aim is to get it as cheap as possible so would like to try Priceline. (Sorry, I am not making this easy am I? :) )

If I understand it correctly, the problem is that Priceline only guarantees double occupancy - it doesn't guarantee that you will get 2 beds. Therefore, if 2 beds is a must (as you say it is), then you can't use Priceline, and the only option is Hotwire. If you'd rather risk getting only one bed for a lower price, then you can try priceline, but they can't guarantee 2 beds. You need to choose which you want before thereuare can help you :)

We would rather risk the bed thing. Our main aim is to get a cheaper price so would like to try priceline. :)
