i was hoping someone would be able to suggest a bidding strategy for a 4* hotel in Quebec for 20-23 April 2008. I was hoping to stay within the walled city with a maximum bid of $95

...good luck, I went all the way up to $110 for a 4* (downtown) and was denied for mid-may, I opened up my options to include Beauport and St. Foy and still got denied at $80- at 3* too, haven't tried in 2-3 days, but I guess I'll try again soon...

Tried today and failed: 4*@$90 and 3*@$85...sheez..never expected this when including both St. Foy and Beauport with the Downtown area.???

i know what you mean. i've been doing the same and keep getting rejected too. i don't know why the price is so high at the moment considering what other people have gotten

Might be the fact that 2008 is Quebec City's 400th anniversary. Lots of special activities and probably extra visitors might drive the prices up.

Finally had a bid accepted. Using savingsbarn link i won 3* Best Western City Centre/Centre-Ville Quebec for $84 19/04/08 - 22/-4/08. i didn't think i'd have to pay that much for quebec but anyway

While perhaps more than you originally thought you would need to spend, this is still a very nice discount from the hotel's advance purchase rate of $140/nite... so a pretty good deal.
