Jugador11 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Started with 4* MTE @ $120. Worked through all my re-bids using zones MTE, MTW, UM/CP, and TS with free on UWS and UES. When I put in MTE, MTW, and TS, I started at $150. Priceline offered a free re-bid of $25 more ($175), but I added UWS at $155. Was rejected and went to $160 with UES for the win. Will be staying at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers for $387.07 after fees/taxes. Is something going on this week that the rates are high (saw some $125 to $140 for January/early February) or just because I have a Saturday night? Any comments on the hotel? It looks nice from pictures and reviews. My only experience in NYC is with the Wolcott on 32nd, which suited me fine so I'm guessing I could have went with a 3* and been happier than I was with the Wolcott, but I still paid ~$30 less than I would at the Wolcott, which I would have gladly stayed at again.
thereuare Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your win.Rates are date specific, so it could be any number of reasons why this stay is more expensive than others reported in January and February.Enjoy your stay. kpet Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I have stayed there several times. The rate you won at $160/night is a good one for this hotel. It is very nice and has been through a renovation recently. Rooms are average size for NYC. It is in a good location, not right in the midst of Times Square but close enough if you want to experience that. There is a quick Deli straight across the street if you need to pick up snacks or drinks and then if you are into finding the best cheesecake in NYC you have Lindy's across the street or both Stage Deli and Carnegie Deli down 1 block. (I personally like the cheesecake at Carnegie Deli best!) The hotel gets quite a bit of business/slash convention traffic and has always been busy when I have stayed there. Overall for the price you are paying I don't think you will be disappointed.
