wogerwabbit Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 Hi guys,I am looking a 4* hotel in vegas for 2 nights from 02/16-02/18 on the strip.. I am open to getting Excalibur or Luxor (which I think is a 3 stars) as an option too. If thats the case then I would not want to bid higher than $97.I am a newbie here so hopefully these are valid requests. A bidding strategy would be a great help. :)Thanks, wogerwabbit
CrankiestOne Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 I don't see Excalibur on the Priceline list (am I missing it?). Luxor and Westin are both in the south strip zone, so you're not going to be able to bid 3* or 4* in that zone unless you are okay with Westin. What other hotels/zones would you consider?

I guess I could start off with a 4* on the north strip area first and then go to south strip?
thereuare Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 I think this may be a tough win at $97 or less but you can give it a try as follows:At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* North Strip...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* North Strip and re-bid zone2...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* South Strip...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* South Strip and re-bid zone2...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* North Strip and South Strip...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* North Strip and re-bid zone2...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $95.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. wogerwabbit Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 I have tried the strategy you suggested upto my MAX price of $130/night for 4*. But I have not been successful.. :)Do you guys think I should just keep trying at the same price everyday? Do you think prices might fall as the dates get closer. This is for the long weekend 2/16-2/18. So it's still more than a month away. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I had noted previously:I think this may be a tough win at $97 or less...Do you think prices might fall as the dates get closer.See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Do you have a back-up reservation anywhere? (if so, where and how much) If unsuccessful with priceline, will you cancel the trip, or find other accomodations? wogerwabbit Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 I don't have a back up accommodation anywhere yet.. As for the price, for 4* I am ok with upto $125/night.. ($97 was for a 3* accommodation).I still not cancel my trip since I already bought plane tix.. So I guess I just have to keep trying. Thanks for your help.
wogerwabbit Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 Just got a room at the excalibur for 300+ taxes for 2 night on their site. This is my back up..Will still bid on priceline everyday to see if I can get something cheaper.
