Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC (Times Square-Theatre District) Millenium Broadway Hotel

Me and my wife will stay for 8 nights at NYC.

Looking at Hotwire we already have options at usd 159 (aprox.) that looking in the hotel list drives me to the Hotel 57 and Novotel Times Square. (3.5*). I will take this unless I get a better deal at priceline, and this is what I am looking for.

I already offered until usd 150, 4*, midtown east, west and south, and times square at priceline and have no success untill now.

BUT

I've seen here some winning bids to 4* at priceline housing at 120 (Hilton), 126, 137 usd (Grand Hyatt). And this is the bargain that we are looking for.

So I am looking for your help:

Is the NY Fashion Week (I "think" that this will happen on the same dates that I am looking) a issue rising the prices?

Should I wait for bidding near the dates?

Should I select hotwire now and try to cancel later, if I get a better deal on priceline?

Am I doing things right or understood something wrong?

I am trying not to do anything wrong or ethically compromised, so, if is there something wrong, let me know.

Thank you a lot and congratulations for your great work!

Well first off you CANNOT cancel HOTWIRE (or priceline for that matter) so if you take a property make sure you like it. Sometimes getting a 8 day stretch on priceline can be difficult, as properties may have something available for a subset of the days but not all the way through, to save money you may have to split your priceline bid. From a quick google search Fashion Week seems to be February 1st - 8th, 2008 but some other event could be on. See also when to bid

Rates are date specific, so somebody elses win (when rates are low) may not necessarily be available for your own stay (when rates may be higher). As well, as Will eluded to above, you're looking for an eight nite stay... rates being high for just one of those eight nites could be cause for your bid to be rejected. (which is where SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID comes into play)

Is there a reason you're not including the UM/CPS zone in your bidding?

3.5*

Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet Access

Does anyone guess? I think it's "The Roosevelt". Am I right?

USD 125,00

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.

I don't think the above is the Roosevelt... it's a match for the Tudor Hote at the United Nations and that would be our best guess.

Didn't bid yet... I am looking for a really incredible bargain, like I have just seen on Hotwire:

4* Midtown East, USD 126,

Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Tennis

Customer Favorite

(Almost sure it's Hyatt or Inter-Continental The Barclay)

When I bid I will let you know...

But I am not sure if am I being too risky waiting a nearest date to bid...

No... this bargain is not for my dates. I am just waiting for something like this to happen, so I will surely bid.

This price was one of those "featured bargains" that are shown on the first page of Hotwire.

Rates are date specific, so a bargain shouldn't be based upon an absolute dollar figure, but rather the price paid relative to next best deal available for that specific date(s).

When looking for an eight nite consecutive stay i don't think you should expect to receive one of the absoluate lowest prices posted on the board or match the price of a one nite stay (which is likely only available for a one nite stay on the lowest day of occupancy of the week).

hmmm... I think I am almost there...

For my dates (21 feb to 29 feb)

I can see a offer of USD 106, Midtown South, 3* with:

Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Business, Internet.

Is this Wingate? (Wingate has restaurant...)

Who guess?

Thank you again!

Great News!!!!

I booked the dates 22 to 24 feb on priceline, 4*, on Millenium Broadway, for USD 120,00.

Now I just have to book 21 to 22 and 24 to 29.

No matter that I will be in 3 different hotels for my stay. Since I am travelling to know the city, I will have an unusual history to tell when I came back home :).

Also, as you wisely advised me, I think will be easier to bid on shorter stays (21 to 22 and 24 to 29). I hope.

21-22-23-24-25-26-27-28-29

Thank you all, and I will keep you informed.

(Should I open a new thread to annouce the bid?)
