Got the hotel for 2 nights immediately after I put my bid (apparently the bid is too high) for two night from 5/30 to 6/1:

rate per night: $58 *2 nights

fee + taxes ~20

total ~ $138

hotwire shows the same hotel for $69 per night

Should have low-bidded it at the first time (say $50...) :)

The speed at which you receive an answer for Priceline gives no insight as to wether your bid was too high.
