Im curious too. You are at least 30-45 min away from Detroit and the bridge is always crowded. You're also going to pay 4.50 each way to cross. ( or something close to it).

Were you denied priceline hotels in Detroit?

Actually, the Hilton is on Riverside Drive in Windsor. You look out the front door across the river and that is downtown Detroit. In fact, Joe Louis Arena and Cobo Hall are directly across. The tunnel to Detroit is less than 5 minutes from the Hilton and is rarely backed up unless there's an accident or something. The bridge to the States is about 10 minutes away and there are definitely truck backups at times but cars can normally cross fairly quickly. There is much publicity about truck back ups but my husband and I cross on the bridge regularly and rarely run into more than a 10 minute wait. I'm not sure why the Hilton is getting bad reviews, I think its lovely and my husband would tell you that I can be a wee bit demanding at times. Windsor's great. Have fun.

Last time I attended a trade show at the Cobo Centre I stayed nearby in Detroit. Admittedly it was about 5 years ago but I didn't feel particularly safe ( I was walking around an area and a cop suggested I head back to my hotel area). Anyway, I said next time I go back I would try out Windsor (never been there although I'm Canadian). After checking the web I found out that there is a tunnel bus that stops at the Cobo centre and it only takes about 20 minutes. Also want to try out the Casino!

The tunnel bus is very convenient. Again, only about 5 minutes from the Hilton, costs about $2 Cdn (might be a bit more now) and takes no time at all. We use it whenever we're attending a show at Cobo or a Wings game or concert at Joe Louis arena. You can also hop off after you clear customs and jump on the People Mover (a monorail system) if you want to go to Greektown in downtown Detroit. Great dining and a cool casino. The casino in Windsor is great too and has just reopened after a 5 week strike. It's a great casino but the employees have been a bit cranky lately! Apparently everybody's happy now and remember, in Canada there's no tax on your winnings and your US $ gets you about $1.40 according to the exchange rate today. Good grief I'm starting to sound like I'm with the Tourism Association.
