Can anyone give me some recent experience/feedback on Beekman Tower Hotel? We are staying one night in NYC on both ends of a European vacation end of Jan and middle of Feb. Two couples traveling together. Currently we have reservations at Beekman for a one bedroom suite $239. Should we bid for a better location, more central to midtown or manhattan?

We stayed at the Beekman Tower for two nights in October (with HOTWIRE) and loved it! Service was friendly and efficient throughout. We were given room 22D, which is a corner room on the highest floor with a (large) balcony (so nothing above us). We had a beautiful 180 degree view of the river, the 59th St Bridge, Midtown...Room was beautiful, nicely appointed, and housekeeping was meticulous. We appreciated having a kitchen and a dining table. There are many places nearby that deliver and/or have very good take-away food. Our favorite was Elite Food Bar (325 East 48th, between 1st and 2nd) for the amazing wraps, salads, desserts (and low prices). There's a small cocktail lounge (with views!) on the top floor of the hotel with a wonderful piano player. (We did not dine in the restaurant, but have previously and it's just fine.)

As for the location, it's a bit of a hike (.4 mile) to the nearest subway station at 51st/Lexington, but we prefer the buses and the #50 (goes west on 49th, east on 50th) was convenient for getting to Midtown for our theater tickets. A taxi back from 42nd/9th was about $7 one night.

Travelzoo has special rates for the Beekman for some January/February dates if you book by December 10th. With a one-bedroom suite, you receive a $25 credit toward incidentals or the restaurant (wonder if this includes cocktails?).

We need a night on 1/29/08 and again on 2/14/08. We are agreeable to sharing one room but would rather a good deal and have separate rooms. We also would like a convenient location to enjoy what time we do have in town. Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Thanks djk for the good tips.

Please use separate threads for each stay as the supply/demand relationship, and the hotel received, will likely be different for each stay (especially with one of your dates being Valentine's Day). We'll use this thread for the first nite of your stay, 1/29/08... please start a NEW TOPIC for the other leg of your stay.

Within your budget i did find The Pod for $111/nite per room (private bath). It's far from a 4* hotel but reviews are consistently very good and it has a great location. Will this work for your needs?

If not, and you'd like to try priceline, how high are you willing to bid? What is your minimum star rating and zone(s) you're willing to accept?

Hello all,

Can anyone tell us about The Benjamin? We just won a bid for $150 per night, 2 rooms, end of January. :) Thank you for all your help on this forum...it taught me how to do it. I am going to try another night now on our trip back through NYC.

Glad to hear the board was helpful in your purchase.

Can you please add the actual dates of your stay to this thread so that we can add this information to the topic title and it can help others who may be looking for a hotel for the same dates as your stay.

Thanks.
