erasmus999 Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 I am looking for either a 4* (or more) or Resort on Maui for a week on May 21/08 and May 27/08. I am willing to spend up to $200 a night, but ideally would be around $150 a night. Unfortunately, when I do a general search on Priceline (not name your own price), there are no 4* or 5* and the prices of the resorts are as follows: Wailea Marriott - $489Grand Wailea Resort Hotel And Spa - $438Maui Prince Hotel - $255Westin Maui - $415Hyatt Regency Maui - $353Sheraton Maui Hotel - $400I would prefer to stay at the Hyatt (or Sheraton). I would be okay with the Westin (as I know many people have won with this recently), but I am ideally looking for something a bit quieter. As all three appear to be in the same area, I am not sure if I would have much of a choice if I bid in that zone.Any help with starting bids and strategy would be welcome!Jonathan

erasmus999 Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 1)are your actual dates 5/21-5/27?Yes.2) note there are no hotels which are rated 4* on Maui, so you're basically looking at Resort class hotelsYes, that is fine.3) are you willing to accept any zone in Maui?Yes. Not too picky on where, as long as the facility is nice. Ideally, on the quieter scale of things...but again, not too picky if the price is right.I would also consider staying on the Big Island too...although I think that is a whole different can of worms, so maybe lets stick to Maui right now. Thanks!
thereuare Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 At current rates I'm doubtful you'll be successful at $150 or under (not even sure about $200) but with time on your side i'd begin as follows:At the Resort level you have one re-bid zone avaialble. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select Resort Wailea...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select Resort Kaanapali...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select Resort Wailea and Kaanapali...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. erasmus999 Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 Any questions feel free to ask. Thanks heaps! I will try that. One question: do you think I should split up my days at all?
thereuare Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 I'm doubtful you'll be successful with the rates above, and if you do it would certainly be a "deal", so i would at least try that first, if rejected, then you can decide if you'd prefer to bid higher or try SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID.
