Becca Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Hi all!Hope everyone is doing well.I went ahead and bid on this "mystery" hotel that has had a few of us sratching our heads. It is coming up frequently as a 4* on WDW page, with the following icons: "Restaurant(s), Pools, Fitness Center, High speed internet access, and golf course and tennis courts nearby".I was hoping for the swan or dolphin but am glad it is this one instead of the others because if all goes as planned I will be on my honeymoon for the stay (one night) and it looks very grand, yet relaxing and romantic. We had also wanted to check out the town of Celebration one day so this is perfect so far. My total was $153.95 so I will only have saved approximately $20. if they charge us more tax at the hotel or $40. if they don't. No major savings but every bit is helpful I guess and overall I'm happy with the outcome.Take care now!:)
thereuare Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding!Great first post! I'm glad it worked out for you and you are happy with the result. Can you also add the date of your stay and/or the price before taxes and fees? This hotel has come up before but with different amenity icons (as well the Vacation Product shows different amenity icons). Putting my interests in this board aside, i wish Hotwire wouldn't do this as it cheapens their product and alienates many consumers. Hotwire should realize that in order to give consumers confidence to purchase an opaque produt they need to show consistency. This not only includes amenity icons, but also consistency in star ratings. A 4* property in one area should be equivalent to a 4* property in another area; as well as all same star rated properties within the same zone. By intentionally creating inconsitencies they cheapen their product and turn away potential customers. Becca Posted July 24, 2004 Author Report Posted July 24, 2004 :) Dear Thereuare and BB,Yikes, sorry I took so long to answer your question. I just came on this AM to post a Priceline bid won awhile back for next month and a Sizzling hot August Hotwire purchase from from a couple of days ago. Alas, I got sidetracked and started reading old posts :) My stay day at the Celebration was May 27th checkin and check out on May 28th. The total cost was as follows:Hotel 1 room(s) @ $133.00 per night x 1 night(s) $133.00 Taxes and fees: $20.95 Hotel Subtotal $153.95 Total Price $153.95 They did not charge any more tax on top of that. We were very pleased overall with the hotel and service. We received a balcony room on the second floor that gave great views of the pier, lake, stores and townfront, etc. It was a bird's eye view for watching the people sitting by the lake in rocking chairs and the children feeding fish. (I love that lil town now, it was so cute and quaint:).The only gripe I had was they charged about 10 dollars for two local calls that were 1 to 3 minutes minutes each. I am not picky so the following things didn't bother me but others may have been irritated by them. The first was the room was very small, not a lot of room between bed and entertainment center/TV to walk to the chairs and desk, the last was the balcony area and the walls outside were very dirty. This board is great. You seem so friendly and kind to posters. I will put it in my new favorites and will check back often, as I feel it's good reading and reference. Keep up the good work.Thanks. Take care.

tkok Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 We just got back from staying at the Celebration hotel. I bid on it from hotwire for $107. With taxes/fees and a $5.00 resort fee my total was $130.95. I was very impressed with the hotel. When I checked in I was happy to see I was booked into a junior suite! The room had two beds, desk, and a sofabed. The room overlooked the lake and had a balcony. I grabbed the brochure of the hotel at check in and looked at the listed price for a junior suite-it was $270 for this time of the year. I was vacationing with my husband and two children and my kids loved the pool-it was small but we were the only ones in it most of the time. The kids loved the turn down service in the evening, they thought it was great to have the beds turned down, with chocolate on the pillows and soft music playing! This was my first experience using hotwire and I was very pleased. <BR>We then drove to Sarasota where we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn(also Hotwired) for a total of $98.00 a night(taxes & fees included). I am not sure if this was a great deal but we were booked into a room with two beds, desk, and a mini kitchen with microwave, and fridge. We have never stayed at Hilton Garden Inn so I am not sure if this was a standard room or not. Overall, this was a great first time experience with using hotwire.
