Beantut Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 I finally have winning bids to post! We are going to London in March 2008 and really wanted to stay for 4 nights - March 1 - 5th - but we've tried for weeks and bids kept getting rejected. Our max bids went to about $125. Since our itinerary is fairly flexible, we decided to see if we could change our dates around. This time we started with Mayfair/4*/$100. Rejected. Added Bloomsbury/Marble Arch/$88 and got the following:March 1 - 3, 2008Novotel London St. Pancras$88.00/night$39.85 Taxes$215.85 TotalWe tried to extend our stay for an additional 2 nights (when it asked in the winning bid email if we were happy with the hotel and if we wanted to extend), but unfortunately, for whatever reason, they weren't able to accommodate us.Since we're flexible and we were planning to go to Birmingham during the week anyway, we decided we'd spend the first few days London, go to Birmingham for the week and then come back to London the following weekend since we're taking the Eurostar on Monday, March 10th to Paris. So we bid again for London...This time we started right off the bat with Bloomsbury/Marble Arch/4*/$85. Bid Accepted:March 7-10, 2008Novotel London St. Pancras$85/night$54.74 Taxes$309.74 TotalTotal for 5 nights in London - $525.59 ($105.11 per night taxes included)If I lowballed the price in the begining and did the bidding strategy thing, I may have had an even lower price, but all in all I'm pretty happy with my wins. :)
blindman Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Glad you got what you wanted in the end.In order to preserve clarity on the board can you please post the SECOND win at the Novotel as a new Topic? If you can use the same headline format that would be appreciated.BTWNot sure if the Novotel still do this but they automatically add breakfast to your bill even if you have it or not. Easy to spot if you check out normally, but if you use express check out, you may miss this extra charge.Enjoy the stay.
Beantut Posted December 5, 2007 Author Report Posted December 5, 2007 Oops! Sorry about that! I think I was so excited I forgot to separate the two.I went ahead and posted the other one today. Thanks!
