supersueng Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Is this possible ? Bid last night for $130 for a 3 and 4* in the area, couldn't get a hotel. 3* and 4* in MTS + MTE don't look too hot, esp. from the real travel photos. Anybody have any tips? THANK YOU!!!
thereuare Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm confused...You state that MTS and MTE 'don't look too hot'... but these are the zone(s) that you are bidding? :)Why are you bidding those zones if you don't think the hotels there look promosing? Exactly which hotels are you 'concerned' with? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
supersueng Posted December 5, 2007 Author Report Posted December 5, 2007 OOPS, I meant the 3* hotels in MTS & MTE don't look too hot. SORRY!
thereuare Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 I'm still confused...You did bid the 3* level above, correct?Exactly which hotels are you 'concerned' with?I am seeing options within your budget... what exactly is it that you're looking for from this stay? supersueng Posted December 5, 2007 Author Report Posted December 5, 2007 Sorryy..I didn't know I was being so complicated! I want to get a 4* in either MTS or MTE, 3*s don't look good for MTS or MTE, but I will take a 3* in downtown/SoHo/etc. I want to spend a maximum of $150 a night. Is this feasible? THANK YOU!!!! Sorry for the confusion.
thereuare Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 I think i got it, but let's confirm (and yet another question)...First prefernce:4* in MTE or MTS(Downtown here too??)if that is rejected:3* in DowntownDo i have it straight now?Is there a reason you're not including MTW and/or UM-CPS in your 4 star bidding? These zones usually work out well for the needs of the typical visitor, but don't know your plans so can't say iif your needs are typical. These zones generally very central and have very good subway access, making it very easy to get around and to other parts of the city (and personally i'd stay at a 4* (or a 3* in midtown) before i considered a 3* Downtown.Let us know the above and we'll move forward. supersueng Posted December 5, 2007 Author Report Posted December 5, 2007 Oh, thought MTW was "unsafe" or something? And UM-CPS is something I forgot to include. I'm just doing typical touristy things, so now that I know more about the transportation those areas will do fine. Also, yes - so 4* MTE, MTS, UM-CPS, MTW before I go for 4* downtown and least wanted, 3* downtown. I do not want a 3* in MTE, MTS, UM-CPS, or MTW at all though. thank you so much for your help!
thereuare Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 OK, let's start with a 4* for any midtown (MTE, MTW, MTS, UM/CPS) location, if this is rejected we'll then have a further discussion as you may have options before trying for a 4* Downtown...At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS and MTS...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTS...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS and MTS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. heathery Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Hello. I'm trying to follow the steps outlined above and have a question about re-bidding area. When I lose the first bid, how do I bid another area? Priceline only shows Manhattan locations with 4* hotel or higher. Thanks!

nico79 Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Hey thereuare, just a short question to your system described. Do you select two areas in the first place (i.e. MTE AND MTW)to increase chances of getting something for that price? b/c this would also work if I choose only one areain the first place, right? Just checking to see if I forget something here :) Also, I totally understand the system of re-bidding, but dont really get the point where to use the BACK buttonof the browser, as everything appears on one page (check buttons, areas, available stars) divided by "next step".BACK button leads me to the Homepage. Thanks,Nico
