angie951 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 HI! I'm looking for some bidding advice. January 4-7. I would like to bid in MTW, MTE, or CPS, 4*. I would like to stay under $150-$160 Total including taxes. Please let me know if this is even possible. If not, let me know how much higher you think I will have to bid. Thank You so much.

angie951 Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 Maximum bid would be $120 before taxes and fees, to make it worthwhile, as I have a gift certificate for Expedia. Please let me know if you think it is possible. If not, I can use your link through Expedia, correct?
thereuare Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I think $120 would be close, but the chances of it being enough less than 50/50. You can try as follows:At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $120Any questions feel free to ask.Good luck and le tus know how it goes.PS- if the above fails please do use our Expedia link :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
angie951 Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 Thank you, do you have a PRICELINE link? I couldn't find one.

angie951 Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 Tried up to $130 with no luck. How much do you think I should bid up to to be successful at this point?
thereuare Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 What hotel would you choose via Expedia and how much would it cost? (before the certficate you intend on using) How much is the certificate worth? Do you have any other travel plans in the future before the certificate expires? angie951 Posted December 1, 2007 Author Report Posted December 1, 2007 I have $200 off @ Expedia. On the Ave is $169+tax, comes to $600 for 3 nights, costing me roughly $400 after coupon. This hotel is a 3 1/2 star UWS. So if I can come close, get a 4* in a more central location on PL I would be happy. I travel alot so using the coupon is not totally necessary. Let me know if you think I should rebid in the $140-$150 range. That would probably be my max. In the mean time, I will book a backup. I have been using your link and will continue to do so. Thank You so much for your time!
thereuare Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 I don't know if i'd use the certificate on this stay... NYC is fairly inexpensive this time of year and i think there are some better deals to be had, given the 'not so great' location of the On the Ave (unless you have reason to stay on the UWS). Better to save your certificate for a 'tough' priceline city or for dates of tight availability. As a current back-up how about the Eastgate Tower for $136/nite thru Quickbook and gets very good reviews. (NOTE: this hotel thru Quickbook offers refundable and non-refundable rates (the non-refundable is clearly marked as such) so just make sure you book the corret one) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mcremata Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Just to throw in my 2 cents... These are basically the same dates I just booked (mine 1/3 - 1/9). I've been trying for months in all zones, except downtown/soho and the best I could do is $207 MTW, Millennium Broadway. The only other deal for these dates that I've seen (it comes and goes) is on HOTWIRE for what is likely the Embassy Suites in downtown/soho for about $179.
thereuare Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 The only other deal for these dates...I think the Eastgate Tower for $136/nite thru Quickbook certainly qualifies as a 'deal'. angie951 Posted December 1, 2007 Author Report Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks guys! I've tried several times now with no luck. I have even tried shortening my stay to 2 nights, and bidding up to $140. Since I booked my first three nights at the Westin (for $39) I am still in good shape bidding higher. How high do you think I should bid up to for these dates?
thereuare Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 How high do you think I should bid up to for these dates? That depends... is the Quickbook offer above for the Eastgate appealing/acceptable? angie951 Posted December 2, 2007 Author Report Posted December 2, 2007 It is an option, but probably only as a backup. I don't mind paying more for a 4*, so I am willing to up my bid to ensure that I get something upscale. I just don't want to overbid.
thereuare Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 IF you're willing to stay at the Eastgate i would reserve that as a back-up thru Quickbook (if you haven't done so already)I would then increase ups to $150 as follows:Select 4* MTE...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150.I don't think i would bid over $150 at this point in time, given the price/value of the Eastgate. As you get closer you may want/need to go higher, but i wouldn't do so at this point in time.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
